Loft Extension

Narrow 2 storey side extension

Whole house refurbishment

Ladywell, London

Chudleigh Rd

Whole house refurbishment and extension of a 1930's house including:

Reconfiguration of the previous galley kitchen& dining room to create a large light filled kitchen/ dining space

Two storey side extension on the site of a 2.5m wide garage to create a separate adult living space connected to the main house including its own living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

Loft extension to create an additional bedroom and shower room. Aluminium cladding was used both to conceal the gutter and rain water pipe, as well as to break up and lighten the elevation without resorting to the use of extensive glazing. The oak window frame ties the shower room and bedroom windows together.

Both the side and loft extensions are constructed from a super insulated timber frame. Together with the high performance timber framed replacement windows, an insulated ground floor, and an abundant supply of natural light throughout the design, the energy usage in the house is a significantly controlled in comparison to national averages.
