Permission for Lawful Development was gained in 2009 for a ground floor kitchen extension and loft conversion. The client then developed the project directly with their builder.
The loft extension provides an additional bedroom and bathroom, with fantastic views from the front roof slope. The rear elevation has large windows to fulfill the client's brief to have lots of natural light and ventilation.
The existing kitchen was poorly configured and, although there was an existing extension, it only provided a small dining space. By simply extending to the side and removing the downstairs WC, the resulting space could be reconfigured to completely change the way the family uses their house. They now have a large dining space directly adjacent to a well arranged kitchen. The existing rear extension now serves as a play space, freeing up the large existing living space in the main house for the adults.
