Harleyford Road

The existing building was a two bedroom Georgian end of terrace house in Vauxhall Conservation area in an extremely poor state of disrepair. The ground floor was dark, with the kitchen separated and also dark due to a covered external courtyard to the rear. Neither of the first floor bedrooms could comfortably accommodate a double bed.

The refurbished and remodelled house, by means of a new two storey rear addition, will provide a well lit living/ dining space with a link through to the kitchen. The removal of the roof to the courtyard as well as the insertion of large double doors to the rear also allows plenty of light to the kitchen, as well as to the rear of the living space. On the first floor, the master bedroom is reinstated as per the original layout, a new bedroom is accommodated in the new extension and a new bathroom is inserted in between the front and rear bedrooms. The refurbishment of the existing building is comprehensive and includes damp proofing work, structural repair and insulation of the existing floor and walls, replacement of the roof and appropriate re rendering.

Planning permission was gained in 2009, and the project is currently on site, with CRA employed to completion.
