Mount Adon Park
Planning Permission was gained in 2007 for a 3 storey extension to an existing 2 bedroom maisonette. A tender package and building control discharge were also completed for the client, who then project managed the build himself. The existing arrangement, with the living space on ground and a small kitchen with no dining space on the first floor was far from satisfactory. With the 3 storey addition, all of the living space will now be at ground level, two additional bedrooms are gained at first floor level, and a shower room, play room and additional living space are added at lower ground floor level.
The extension is built from bricks to match the existing rear wall. Large, timber framed, sliding windows allow plenty of light and ventilation into the newly formed spaces and create a connection with the rear garden that did not exist previously. In this way, although the size of the openings and the simple steel balustrading create a contemporary elevation, the bricks and timber used echo the rest of the house, allowing the extension to sit comfortably with its neighbours.
